About Me

I have been working in the field of counseling & art therapy for more than 12 years in a variety of different agencies and private practice. I am licensed by New York state as a Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT), and am a Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC). I received my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and Art Therapy from Naropa University.  I work with all ages and ability levels, from young children with developmental disabilities and mental illnesses to older adults with physical disabilities, aphasia, and dementia. My approach is “client-directed,” encouraging clients to use various media and mindfulness practices to express creativity, inner thoughts, and conflicts. Especially with children, I also use a multi-sensory approach; engaging in play, art, and sand tray therapy and other sensory activities to help a child overcome their hurdles.

I believe that, through art, people can overcome their struggles, achieve their highest level of functionality, and reach their full potential. It is amazing to see the transformation that art can bring to people’s lives. Through art, we can work through problems in a way that we may not be able to articulate verbally.

I specialize in children, adolescents, adults & families dealing with:

•  PTSD & anxiety disorders
•  Bipolar/mood disorders
•  Autism Spectrum Disorders
•  Developmental Disabilities
•  ADD/ADHD
•  Aphasia & other rehabilitative issues
•  Family & Parenting issues

In 2017, I am very excited to announce the creation of C.R.E.A.T.E Community Studios; Capital Region Expressive Arts, Transformation, & Empowerment. With studios in both Schenectady & Saratoga, I will be working with area expressive artists to bring you the region’s first centralized for expressive arts.
